Autopsie d’ une Autoroute/Autopsy of an Hightway

by Véronique Doucet

Autopsy of an Hightway stems from the Route-process, photographing and accumulating animal artefacts (roadkill) and roadside waste to create a contemporary bestiary. I push the plogging art further by creating works with the collected subjects. This opposition praises the objects of consumption, thus representing the new religion of consumerism! I use the dichotomy of aesthetics and raw to observe our often meaningless existence. These traces left by humans are anthropological clues that allow us to initiate a societal critique of our cohabitation with nature, the impact of overconsumption and our frantic lifestyle.
